Our Exercise Therapy Program

Our Safety Commitment

Silverfit combines fitness training with group exercise games proven to benefit the physical and mental well-being of older adults, even those suffering from chronic illness. Safety is our #1 priority throughout each exercise program. Participants remain seated at all times, eliminating the risk for falls and allowing those with limited mobility to participate.

With over ten years of experience working in the field of mental illness, our certified senior fitness specialists choose exercises and activities that will best help our senior participants overcome cognitive and physical barriers.

How Our Program Works

We start off slowly and progress as we continue working with each senior, always striving to maintain a fun and engaging experience. All sessions include a warm up, strength exercises, and games to improve motor skills. Seniors in our program enjoy everything from low impact strength training to chair dancing to exercise bingo to modified bowling, and more.

At the start of each session, participants learn how to safely increase their flexibility and heart rate during various warm-up activities, including arm circles, chair marching, leg raises and other dynamic movements.

Strength training is crucial for seniors because of the role it plays in slowing the aging process. We train individuals to properly use dumbbells and resistance bands as well as to perform various exercises with both types of equipment. For those suffering from dementia, we use brightly colored and textured exercise equipment, including foam noodles and tactile sensory exercise balls, to help with brain stimulation.

Each session ends with a group exercise game, in which participants work on improving their motor skills and range of motion. These games are an enjoyable way to improve physical health and encourage social interaction amongst peers. Modified versions of volleyball, basketball and bowling are some of our client favorites!
